Stranded snowmobilers found safe
Two out-of-state snowmobilers spent the night in a guard shack near Springville Crossing. SAR pagers went off at 1:43 a.m. marked “urgent” due to the storm moving over Northern Utah.
The pair left Daniel’s Summit where they were vacationing, and when they realized they didn’t have enough gas to return, they called 911, then took shelter in the shack which was equipped with beds and a gas heater.
Daniel’s Summit is in Wasatch County, and both Utah and Wasatch County SAR spent the night searching. The pair were located around 8 a.m. after SAR spotted their sleds parked at the guard shack. They were first taken to the Utah County command post, where they were refueled and escorted back by Wasatch County SAR.
