SAR units responded to the Allen’s Ranch area of the West Desert for two hikers stranded by an intense cold front and thunder storm.
The hikers had brought a lighter and built a fire to keep warm under an overhang, and they were spotted using a FLIR (forward-looking infra red) device, which spotted the fire’s heat even from around the hillside.

SAR responded to a call for a report of hikers caught in a steep area below the Bridal Veil Falls trail. After combing the area thoroughly, it was determined that the hikers had safely left on their own.

A 32-year-old woman cut her leg while hiking below Bridal Veil Falls. SAR and Sundance Fire treated the woman and carried her down the mountain to a waiting ambulance.

An engaged couple hiking in the Lone Peak area lost the trail in the dark and waited till light to hike out. SAR responded in the morning and found them just after they left the wilderness area boundary, then gave them a ride down to the road on 4 wheelers.

A 25-year-old woman was flown from Timpanogos saddle area. The Timpanogos Emergency Response Team (TERT) and Life Flight took care of the incident before SAR units arrived at the summit ridge.
