Sailor drowns on Utah Lake
A tragic accident occured southwest of Utah Lake State Park in Provo when a sailor swam away from his small boat without a life jacket to retrieve a paddle. High winds made it difficult for the boat to return to the swimmer, who drown before he could be retrieved.
SAR and other agencies combed the lake with radar for several days before the man was spotted by helicopter on Tuesday.
We express our regrets to the victim’s family and friends.
